Set its width and the height of the beam -- the hangers, chains and their screws are all counted.\n2 Hollywood Swing -- Our favorite: a canopy swing on its own stand under a gable or mono-pitch roof. One slider takes the seat from upright all the way to a flat bed with a mattress.\n3 A-Frame Swing -- The porch swing on the Hollywood swing's free-standing frame and roof -- no porch needed, just a level spot in the yard.\n4 Kids Swing Set -- A swing set for children on two A-frames: drag it wider for one, two or three board swings on chains.\n5 Pergola Swing -- The classic porch swing in its own timber pergola: four posts on concrete footings with knee braces, two beams and rafters with curled tails.
